Her designer dress is beyond the price range of most of us, without a royal budget, but now a high street brand has launched a replica of one of the most popular dresses of the Duchess of Cambridge, at a fraction of the price.
Little Mistress is currently offering a £65 white self-portrait dress through ASOS. Kate first appeared in the street cat called Bob’s premiere in November 2016 for £320.
Kate’s original gown, long fringed pleated skirt and crocheted bodice are accented with a prominent placket, while the Little Mistress version is almost identical, but the length of the skirt is shorter.
Kate proved to be one of the most successful appearances of the royal family. Before moving by Tamara Ecclestone and Paris Hilton, the brand’s image was sent to the stratosphere and the dress was sold out immediately.
In June of the same year, Tamara wore the same dress for evening standard shooting, and Paris first wore a £320 pleated crochet floral dress at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles.
It is also worn by Santa Clarita Diet star Maggie Lawson, who is also known for her long-standing role in Psych.
In the more than 18 months after Kate made the designer a household name, the dress reappeared on the Ascot Racecourse on Ms. Day, where many contestants copied Kate’s style with the same clothes. A convincing replica.
The man behind the brand is Han Chong, who was born in Malaysia. He was trained at the prestigious Central Saint Martins Fashion Institute and then launched his collection in London.
“I can see the launch of a modern brand that moves at high street speeds, but with great potential for luxury quality,” he said before.
“I worked with a highly skilled team in the studio and factory, which allowed me to keep my designs within a price range so that girls with normal income can buy them.
“If they are too expensive, it will bring fun. They will appreciate the ideas in each piece and feel like they have bought something unique without destroying the bank.
Although its clothing is still very expensive, they are only a small part of the cost of high-end designer brands, and it is also a cheap purchase for special occasions.
Luxury womenswear brands have high-end street prices, shirts and blouses start at around £165, and their famous “naked” perspective dresses cost £400.
The buzz around the label is only three years old and has grown to a certain extent in the summer. Selfridges sells 100 Self-Portrait pieces per week.
Self Portrait has been snapped up by 250 dealers worldwide, with 92% of its apparel being called “sales rate” and most brands having an average price of only 40.
